The motherboard must support "PCIe x8x4x4 Bifurcation" for all slots to operate at full speed. If the motherboard only supports "x4x4x4x4", the expanded PCIe x16 slot will run at x4 speed. If the motherboard does not support PCIe bifurcation, only the PCIe x16 slot will function; M.2 SSDs will not be recognized. Individual LED indicators display the working status of each SSD. The additional PCIe x16 slot is beneficial when no extra PCIe slots are available on the motherboard.
