Wind-powered Animaris Model Kit

With overall dimensions of around 20 × 13 cm and height varying between 11 cm (back) and 17 cm (propeller tip), this strandbeest model combines durable hard plastic and natural wood for structural reliability and visual appeal. It faithfully interprets Theo Jansen’s Animaris Ordis Parvus — a celebrated example of wind-driven walking robotics. Assembly requires no tools or adhesives; interlocking parts form a functional linkage system activated solely by airflow. A light breath or outdoor breeze sets the propeller spinning, driving leg motion across flat or sandy terrain. Its autonomous responses — pausing in strong wind, altering trajectory near water — emerge directly from mechanical design, not electronics. This makes it both a satisfying build and a quietly profound introduction to sustainable motion design.
