How It Works This diffraction spectroscope is an optical instrument that operates on the principle of light refraction and colour formation. It allows you to observe how light is broken down into its component colours, making it a practical tool for basic spectrum analysis. Optical Performance Inside the instrument, prism beam splitters create a non-equidistant light area. This means the red portion of the spectrum appears smaller while the blue portion is larger, with resolution varying accordingly—lower in the red area and higher in the blue area.
